Alexander Isak is set to return to full team training on Thursday, Liverpool head coach Arne Slot confirmed. The club-record £125 million signing has been out since December after suffering a fractured leg and undergoing ankle surgery.
Before his injury against Tottenham Hotspur, the 26-year-old striker made 16 appearances for the Liverpool, scoring three goals. Slot highlighted Isak’s positive mindset, noting that Sweden’s World Cup qualification and his return to group training mark a significant milestone after months of recovery.
Liverpool are preparing for their FA Cup quarter-final against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
Isak, who joined from Newcastle United in September for a British record transfer fee, sustained the injury during a challenge by Micky van de Ven while scoring in a 2-1 win over Spurs on 20 December.
