Nigeria Premier Football League side Bendel Insurance have secured the long-term future of their rising star Alex Oweifaleya. The promising 19-year-old forward put pen to paper on a fresh three-year contract extension with the Benin City-based outfit. This new agreement will keep the highly-rated teenage striker at the club until the summer of 2029.
The lucrative deal serves as a direct reward for his exceptional performances during his debut campaign in the Nigerian top flight. Oweifaleya enjoyed a stunning breakthrough season under manager Kennedy Boboye; he scored 10 league goals to become the team's vital attacking weapon. His notable goal-scoring exploits included a sensational hat-trick during a dominant 4-0 victory against Ikorodu City.
Oweifaleya originally joined the Benin Arsenals last year from the grassroots setup at OYC Academy in Warri. His impressive pace and finishing quickly made him an indispensable member of the first team at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium. He also recently scooped the Most Valuable Player award after guiding his team to the Edo FA Cup title.
The hierarchy at Bendel Insurance expressed immense confidence in the player's long-term abilities and overall football progression. Management noted that the contract extension aligns perfectly with their structural philosophy of building a competitive squad around young domestic talents. The club hopes the prolific young forward can elevate their ambitions as they target silverware in the upcoming football seasons.
