Akwa United have begun their push for an immediate return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) by unveiling 10 new players ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
The Uyo-based club, known as the Promise Keepers, have recruited across all departments as they seek to overcome the disappointment of relegation and regain their top-flight status.
Goalkeeper Robert Cole joins the squad alongside defenders Keme Okoriye, Famoyegun Michael and Ikemdinachi Prince, who are expected to strengthen the team's defensive structure.
The midfield has also received a boost with the arrivals of Paschal Uba, Asiriuwa Godwin, Nwune and James Peter, giving head coach Paul Offor additional options for the new campaign.
Peter Asuquo and Apas Abel complete the list of recruits, with the attacking duo expected to improve the team's forward options.
Offor expressed confidence in the team's preparations, assuring supporters that his players would be ready for the challenges of the new season.
The new signings are expected to increase competition for places within the squad as Akwa United target a strong campaign in the second-tier league.
With the NNL season scheduled to commence on October 31, the Promise Keepers will aim to turn their recruitment drive into consistent performances capable of securing promotion to the NPFL.
