Akwa United have arrived in Lagos on an Ibom Air flight from Uyo ahead of their Nigeria National League (NNL) Matchday 7 fixture against First Bank FC. The match is scheduled for Monday morning at the Onikan Stadium.
The Promise Keepers have recorded three wins, one draw, and two losses in their first six matches of the season, currently sitting fourth in the Southern Conference B table with 10 points.
Coach Paul Offor and his squad are targeting their first away victory of the campaign against bottom-placed First Bank FC, who have managed only one point from six games this season.
Speaking to his players after their sole training session at the Onikan Stadium on Sunday morning, Offor emphasized that the match would be challenging and urged his team to be fully prepared.
The coach highlighted the importance of commitment and clinical finishing in front of goal, noting that better conversion of chances could significantly enhance the team’s prospects this season.
“This is a very important match for us, and we must take it seriously,” Offor said. “We have to be ready for anything because this will be a tough game, especially against a team desperate for its first win. We know our challenges, particularly in converting chances. We must be more focused and purposeful. A win here in Lagos will greatly improve our chances of meeting our season targets.”
Kickoff is set for 10:00 a.m., marking the first-ever meeting between Akwa United and First Bank FC.
