Akor Adams Earns High Praise From Sevilla Boss After Striking Late Winner Against Villarreal

Sevilla head coach Luis Garcia Plaza has hailed Nigerian forward Akor Adams as "phenomenal" following his match-winning heroics on Wednesday night. Adams came off the bench to score the decisive goal in a thrilling 3-2 victory over Villarreal at the Estadio de la Ceramica. The strike completed a stunning comeback for the visitors who had trailed by two goals early in the match.

Villarreal took a commanding lead within the first 20 minutes through goals from Gerard Moreno and Georges Mikautadze. However, Sevilla responded before the interval with goals from Oso and Kike Salas to level the score. Adams then secured the three points in the 72nd minute by finishing a precise pass from Djibril Sow with a powerful low strike.

This victory marks the third consecutive win for Sevilla as they continue to distance themselves from the relegation zone. The club has risen to 10th place in the league table with 44 points from 36 matches. Coach Garcia Plaza praised the resilience of his squad and specifically highlighted the impact made by the Nigerian international since his arrival from Ligue 1.

Adams has now recorded 10 goals and four assists in 31 appearances across all competitions this season. His goal against Villarreal was his fourth match-winning strike of the campaign, following similar decisive performances against Espanyol and Rayo Vallecano. The 26-year-old has become a vital component of the team’s attacking strategy during the closing stages of the season.

The manager also acknowledged the tactical discipline shown by the entire team under pressure. He noted that the squad’s belief never wavered despite the early two-goal deficit against a top-four contender. Sevilla now turns its attention to a high-profile home fixture against Real Madrid this coming Sunday.
