Akor Adams Calls For Tactical Reset At Sevilla Following Narrow Defeat To Real Oviedo

Sevilla forward Akor Adams has expressed his disappointment following his team's slim 1-0 defeat to Real Oviedo at the Estadio Municipal Carlos Tartiere. The loss has amplified the pressure on the Spanish giants, who have now failed to record a victory in their last five league outings. Despite playing the full 90 minutes, the Super Eagles striker was unable to find the back of the net as Sevilla struggled to break down a resilient Oviedo defense.

The match took a difficult turn for the visitors in the 38th minute when defender Tanguy Nianzou was shown a straight red card. This forced Sevilla to play the majority of the contest with ten men, making their comeback efforts significantly harder. While many fans and analysts questioned the severity of the dismissal, Adams refused to use the referee's decisions as an excuse for the poor result.

Speaking after the match, the 26-year-old former Montpellier star emphasized the need for internal reflection within the squad. He noted that the team had prepared extensively under new manager Luis Garcia and must now adapt quickly to the coach's demands. Adams highlighted that while several incidents on the pitch were unfortunate, including a heavy challenge on teammate Djibril Sow, the responsibility for the loss ultimately rested with the players.

The current run of form has left Sevilla in 17th position in the La Liga standings, just one spot above the relegation places. With only eight matches remaining in the season, the club is facing the genuine threat of demotion to the second tier of Spanish football. The lack of clinical finishing has been a recurring theme for the side, as they have struggled to convert possession into goals during this winless streak.

Sevilla now faces a daunting task as they prepare to host Atletico Madrid this coming Saturday. Adams and his teammates will be desperate to secure three points to move away from the drop zone and restore confidence among the supporters. The Nigerian striker remains a central figure in their survival hopes, having established himself as a key starter since his arrival in Spain.
