AHLAN Cup: FWC FC start with comfortable win

FWC FC from Abuja showcased their dominance with a resounding 3-1 victory over The Kings FC in their opening game of the Ahlan Cup 2024.


Goals from Timothy Daweng in the 10th minute were answered by Ikechi Chukwu of The Kings FC 21 minutes later, sealing the first half at 1-1 apiece.


However, in the second half, FWC FC's head coach, Bunmi Haruna, made some changes that paid off late in the game. Ugwu Henry restored FWC FC's lead in the 75th minute, and Oko Joseph's goal in the 85th minute secured all three points in a 3-1 victory for the church team.


Likeminds FC lost 0-1 to Setraco FC in the game played earlier in the day, while Capital City drew 2-2 with Sports Supply FC, and Fosla FC lost 1-3 to NYSC FC in the games played a day before.


The AHLAN Cup Tournament 2024, which began on February 13th, 2024, at the FIFA Goal Project Centre in Abuja, is an eight-team tournament meant to prepare Nationwide League One (NLO1) teams based in the FCT for the new season, which will kick off in April.
