2025 AFCON: Super Eagles Shift Focus to Host Morocco After Algeria Triumph

Buoyed by a commanding quarterfinal performance, Nigeria’s Super Eagles have swiftly shifted focus to a mouth-watering AFCON 2025 semifinal showdown against tournament hosts Morocco.

The three-time African champions returned to their base in Fez on Sunday, less than 24 hours after dispatching Algeria 2–0 at the Marrakech Stadium to secure a place in the last four of the competition.

Nigeria’s victory was anchored by a confident second-half display. Victor Osimhen opened the scoring in the 47th minute, continuing his impressive tournament form, before unselfishly providing the assist for Akor Adams in the 67th minute to put the result beyond doubt and ignite celebrations within the Nigerian camp.

Upon arrival in Fez, the Super Eagles held a light recovery session focused on stretching and walking exercises to aid muscle recovery following the intense quarterfinal encounter. The technical crew has scheduled a return to full training on Monday, with emphasis on tactical organization, match strategy, and technical sharpness ahead of Wednesday’s high-stakes clash.

The team’s final training session is expected to take place on Tuesday as preparations intensify for what promises to be one of the standout matches of the tournament.

Nigeria will face host nation Morocco at the Rabat Stadium with a place in the AFCON final at stake. The Atlas Lions booked their semifinal spot after edging Cameroon in their quarterfinal encounter, setting up a thrilling North Africa–West Africa showdown.

With confidence soaring and momentum firmly on their side, the Super Eagles will be aiming to silence the home crowd and take a decisive step closer to continental glory.
