Posted : 17 January 2024

Sports Development Minister Senator John Owan Enoh and Customs CGC Adewale Bashiru Adeniyi have called on the Super Eagles to secure a victory against Ivory Coast in their second AFCON group game.

Emphasizing the need for mental resilience, the minister sees Thursday's game as an opportunity for the Eagles to showcase their capabilities and advised them to revive the 2013 spirit against the same opponent.

Urging the team to remain resolute, he highlighted the support of the Nigerian government and people, considering a win as not just for the team but a statement of the nation's football prowess.

Customs boss Bashiru Adeniyi encouraged the players to approach the game like a cup final, acknowledging the high stakes and millions of Nigerian hopes riding on their shoulders.

Expressing confidence in the team's abilities, he sees the match against Ivory Coast as crucial, with optimism that the boys will deliver.

While recognizing the tournament's typical slow start for big teams, he emphasized the importance of not losing the match against a highly-rated Ivorian side, expressing optimism for success in the second half.
