Adetunji’s Early Strike Sends Emiloju FC into 1xBet Cup Second Round

Emiloju Football Club secured a place in the second round of the 2026 1xBet Cup after edging Evolution United 1-0 in a keenly contested opening-round encounter.

The Lagos-based side made a flying start at the sound of the whistle, with Wariz Adetunji scoring in the sixth minute to give Emiloju FC an early advantage.

Adetunji reacted sharply in the opening stages to find the back of the net, setting the tone for what proved to be a disciplined performance from his teammates.

Despite creating opportunities to extend their lead, Emiloju FC were unable to add to their tally as Evolution United gradually grew into the contest.

The pressure intensified in the closing stages as Evolution United pushed aggressively for an equaliser, but Emiloju FC remained compact and resolute to protect their advantage and preserve their clean sheet.

Adetunji’s all-round contribution earned him the Man of the Match award, capping a memorable outing for the forward.

Chairman of Emiloju FC, Alhaji Musiliu Jimoh Alao, praised the players and technical crew for maintaining their concentration and executing the team’s tactical plan.

“I am proud of the players for their commitment, discipline and fighting spirit. We knew it would be a difficult match, but they remained focused and earned a deserved victory,” Alao said.

He congratulated Adetunji for his match-winning contribution and urged the squad to maintain the same level of commitment as the competition progresses.

Alao said the club remained ambitious about its campaign and would continue to work towards making a deep run in the 2026 1xBet Cup.
