AC Milan Open to Offers for Nigerian Winger Samuel Chukwueze Amid Reset

Posted : 19 June 2026

Italian heavyweights AC Milan are officially prepared to consider competitive transfer offers for Nigerian international winger Samuel Chukwueze this summer. The 27-year-old attacker recently returned to the San Siro following his season-long loan spell at English Premier League club Fulham. His long-term future in Italy remains deeply uncertain.

Chukwueze enjoyed a highly productive spell in England under manager Marco Silva. He registered three goals and four assists across 23 competitive league appearances. The dynamic winger injected genuine pace into the team's transitional play and provided valuable squad depth.

He also formed a fantastic offensive partnership alongside fellow Super Eagles stars Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey at Craven Cottage. However, the Fulham hierarchy formally declined to trigger the €26 million permanent purchase clause included in his loan contract. They deemed the financial package too expensive relative to his total output.

Italian football journalist Luca Cerchione reports that the Rossoneri management now views the former Villarreal star as a highly sellable asset. The club is prepared to let him leave if a suitable opening offer arrives. However, he is not among the group of players the club is actively forcing out.

The historic Serie A club is going through a massive structural reset ahead of the new football season. Milan recently confirmed the appointment of former Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim as their new head coach. The Portuguese tactician signed a two-year contract after Massimiliano Allegri was dismissed.

This sudden managerial change creates a massive tactical problem for the Nigerian international. Amorim famously builds his teams around a rigid 3-4-3 formation. This specific tactical system has no natural room for a traditional wide winger.

Discussions regarding a revised transfer arrangement are still quietly ongoing between Milan and Fulham officials. No formal agreement has been reached yet between both clubs. Chukwueze originally moved to Italy from Spanish side Villarreal in 2023 for €20 million.

The explosive forward signed a long-term five-year contract upon his arrival at the San Siro. He still has two full years remaining on his current deal. He is expected to report for pre-season training while his representatives evaluate his options.

Securing consistent playing time elsewhere will help Chukwueze maintain his position within the Nigerian national team. Super Eagles selectors closely monitor player performance in top European leagues ahead of upcoming international fixtures. A summer move could provide the perfect spark to revive his club career.
