Abuja set to host Nigeria’s top Volleyball clubs as Premier League serves off June 13

Nigeria’s premier volleyball clubs will converge on Abuja from June 13 to 28 for the first phase of the 2026 National Premier Volleyball League, as the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) intensifies efforts to strengthen the sport’s domestic structure and discover new talents.

The competition, which will take place at the Indoor Sports Hall, Package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, is being staged in honour of the 3rd Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service and will feature leading men's and women's teams from across the country.

As Nigeria’s highest domestic volleyball competition, the National Premier Volleyball League remains a key platform for showcasing elite talent, promoting healthy competition, and preparing athletes for continental and international assignments.

The championship is expected to attract a strong gathering of players, coaches, technical officials, administrators, and volleyball enthusiasts, further underlining its importance within the country's sporting calendar.

Speaking ahead of the event, NVBF President, Nimrod Musa, reiterated the federation’s commitment to improving the quality of the domestic league, raising competitive standards, and creating pathways for players to advance their careers beyond the national stage.

According to the federation, the commencement of the Premier League follows the successful completion of the Division One and Division Two leagues, reflecting ongoing efforts to expand volleyball development and participation nationwide.

The NVBF also called on government agencies, corporate organisations, stakeholders, media practitioners, and sports fans to support and participate in the championship, which is expected to showcase the steady growth and increasing popularity of volleyball in Nigeria.
