Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) Ilorin FC has officially unveiled Coach Yusuf Salihu as the club’s new head coach ahead of the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
The unveiling ceremony took place at the Taiwo Awoniyi Media Sports Centre, Kwara SWAN Secretariat, George Innih Stadium, Ilorin.
Speaking at the event, Coach Salihu expressed gratitude for the opportunity and shared his vision for the club: “Football is teamwork, and that’s why it remains a collective game; I can’t do it alone. With unity, commitment, and the support of management and stakeholders, we will succeed. My vision is to build a vibrant, formidable, and disciplined team that can compete with any club in Nigeria and beyond, win laurels, and take ABS FC to greater heights.”
ABS Director of Football, Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka, emphasized the importance of nurturing homegrown coaches, citing Coach Tunde Sani’s recent success in the President Federation Cup with Kwara United as an example of how opportunity leads to achievement.
The club’s management expressed confidence in Salihu’s ability to guide the team into a new era of growth and success and called on fans and stakeholders to support the coach and players ahead of the upcoming season.
Founded to nurture young talent and promote football development, ABS Ilorin FC continues its tradition of grooming players capable of making an impact both locally and internationally, in line with the vision of its owner, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki.
With Salihu’s appointment, the club is set for an exciting campaign in the 2025/2026 NNL season.
