Ablaze Football Academy has emerged as champions of the 7th edition of the FC Bayern Youth Cup Nigeria after a dramatic final against Inspire Sports Academy of Lagos.
The final, held at Inspire Pitch, NITEL Field in Oshodi, Lagos, on Saturday, ended in a goalless draw during regulation time.
However, Ablaze FA held their nerve during the penalty shootout, edging Inspire SA 4-3 to claim the prestigious title.
The two-day tournament, held on June 20 and 21, 2025, featured 12 U16 teams from across Nigeria. It also served as a scouting platform for young talent, with Bayern Munich’s Head of International Youth Programs, Lars Weichert, and Bayern legend Diego Contento in attendance.
In the third-place match, Shuffle Football Academy defeated Select FA 2-0 to secure bronze. Shuffle FA had earlier lost a closely contested semi-final to Ablaze FA on penalties, despite a valiant effort.
The event concluded with a certificate presentation ceremony for players and coaches, led by Lars Weichert and Diego Contento — reaffirming Bayern Munich’s commitment to youth development in Nigeria.
This victory marks a triumphant return to the top for Ablaze FA, who were the inaugural champions of the tournament, further cementing their reputation as one of Nigeria’s premier academies for grooming young football talent.
