Abia Warriors Target Niger Tornadoes’ Downfall in NPFL Matchday 10

Posted : 24 October 2026

Abia Warriors will look to turn their home advantage into three valuable points when they host Niger Tornadoes of Minna in a Matchday 10 fixture of the 2026/2027 EuroMatch Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season on Sunday.

The encounter, scheduled to take place at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba, offers Umu Chineke an opportunity to build on their resilient 1-1 draw against Kwara United in Ilorin and strengthen their position in the league standings.

Emmanuel Nnaji’s equaliser earned Abia Warriors a deserved point in their previous outing, providing a timely boost ahead of their return to home action.

However, the Aba-based side will recognise that another draw may not be enough to meet their immediate objectives. A victory would give them an opportunity to move further away from the relegation battle and improve their standing in the league.

Their recent head-to-head record offers grounds for optimism, with Abia Warriors winning four of their last six meetings with Niger Tornadoes. The Ikon Allah Boys have recorded one victory, while the remaining encounter ended in a draw.

Despite this historical advantage, the hosts cannot afford to be complacent against a visiting side equally determined to secure a positive result.

Niger Tornadoes head into the contest buoyed by their hard-fought victory over high-flying Ikorodu City in their previous league match. They will hope to carry that momentum into Aba and avoid a defeat that could bring them closer to the relegation zone.

The visitors’ determination to frustrate their hosts could make the encounter a stern test of Abia Warriors’ attacking quality, tactical discipline and ability to handle pressure.

For the hosts, converting possession and scoring opportunities into goals will be crucial. Defensive concentration will also be essential against opponents looking to capitalise on any lapses at the back.

Abia Warriors will draw further encouragement from their home supporters, whose backing could prove decisive in a fixture with significant implications for both clubs.

Abia Warriors will be without Chidiebere Nnachi, Tochukwu Stephen and Wilson Elu, who are listed as unavailable for the encounter.

Emmanuel Ogbuagu and Israel Joseph, however, are available for selection, giving the technical crew additional options ahead of the clash.

With three points at stake, Abia Warriors will aim to make their home advantage count, while Niger Tornadoes will arrive determined to upset the hosts and return to Minna with a positive result.

Abia Warriors will host Niger Tornadoes on Sunday, October 25, at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba. Kick-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. local time.
