Abia Warriors will make a temporary switch to Aba for their home fixtures in the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, with the Enyimba International Stadium serving as the club’s adopted home ground.
The decision follows the ongoing reconstruction of the Umuahia Township Stadium, which is currently undergoing extensive renovation after Abia Warriors were barred from hosting league matches at the facility during the second half of last season.
Chairman of the club, Coach John Obuh, confirmed the arrangement on Friday in Umuahia, assuring that the Warriors will conduct their home campaign at the Aba stadium until their traditional venue is ready.
“Our original home ground in Umuahia is undergoing renovation, so we’ll play our home games at the Enyimba International Stadium this season,” Obuh said.
The temporary relocation means Abia Warriors will begin the new NPFL campaign away from their familiar Umuahia base, but still within the state.
The Umuahia-based side are scheduled to open their 2026/27 league campaign with a South-East derby against newly promoted Kun Khalifat FC on matchday one next month.
The Warriors will therefore look to turn the Enyimba Stadium into a stronghold as they embark on their campaign while awaiting the completion of work at the Umuahia Township Stadium.
