Abia Warriors Seek First Home Win as Bendel Insurance Visit Aba

Abia Warriors will be aiming to turn home advantage into a much-needed victory when they host Bendel Insurance in a Matchday 6 fixture of the 2026/2027 Euromatch Nigeria Premier Football League at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba on Sunday.

The Aba-based side will return home determined to put their recent defeat to Barau FC behind them after showing encouraging form during the first leg of a demanding back-to-back away schedule.

Abia Warriors had demonstrated their quality in a 2-0 victory over Sporting Lagos at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, but they were unable to maintain that momentum in Kano, where Barau FC handed them a defeat.

That result leaves the Umu Chineke with another opportunity to make home advantage count, as they are still searching for their first victory in Aba this season.

Their challenge, however, will come against a Bendel Insurance side whose overall league campaign has been stronger despite their struggles on the road.

The Benin Arsenal occupy fifth place with nine points from five matches, while Abia Warriors are 14th with five points from the same number of games.

Insurance's away record could provide encouragement for the hosts, with the visitors yet to pick up a point from their away fixtures this season.

The recent history between the two clubs also suggests that Sunday's encounter could be closely contested. Their last six meetings have produced two victories apiece and two draws, leaving little to separate the sides over that period.

For Abia Warriors, the immediate objective will be to turn their recent positive moments into a complete performance in front of their supporters.

A first home victory would improve their points tally and could provide the momentum needed to move higher up the standings as the season progresses.

Bendel Insurance, meanwhile, will be hoping to end their difficult run away from home while maintaining their position among the early pace-setters.
