Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia failed to win their second consecutive home game as they were held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Wikki Tourists of Bauchi at the Umuahia Township Stadium.
The first half of the Matchday 23 fixture of the Nigeria Premier Football League failed to produce any goals as chances were few and far between.
The home side, however, upped their game in the second half and deservedly went in front in the 55th minute as Chukwuemeka Obioma slammed home a Sunday Megwo pass.
But they failed to hold onto their lead as the visitors equalized just a minute later when their former player, Taheer Abubakar, who left for Wikki Tourists a few weeks ago, came back to haunt them.
The Warriors' defensive line failed to deal with Jonathan Manga's delivery that fell kindly to Taheer Abubakar, and the former Abia Warriors number 14 infuriated his former employers by steering the ball into the net.
Despite wholesale substitutions from the Warriors' bench, they failed to get the desired winning goal, as the game ended one-all.
Up next for Abia Warriors is a Matchday 24 encounter against Katsina United at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina, on Sunday, February 1, 2026.
