Abia Warriors Begin Pre-Season Preparations with Renewed Ambition

Abia Warriors Football Club has officially commenced preparations for the 2026/2027 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, with players returning to training at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Monday.

The squad reported in large numbers for the opening session, signalling their determination to improve on last season's seventh-place finish in the 20-team top-flight competition.

Addressing the players before training, Club Chairman, Coach John Obuh, challenged the team to approach the new campaign with greater ambition, insisting that hard work, discipline, and unity would be essential to achieving their objectives.

The former Nigeria U-17 and U-20 Head Coach stressed that the pre-season period provides the platform for a successful campaign and urged every player to remain fully committed from the outset.

Obuh also reminded the squad that consistency and teamwork would be key if the club is to surpass last season's performance and compete strongly throughout the league season.

Training was overseen by Technical Adviser Imama Amapakabo, who led the first session as the Warriors began building fitness and tactical sharpness ahead of the new NPFL season, which kicks off next month.

With preparations now underway, Abia Warriors will be aiming to build a strong foundation for the campaign ahead. The club hopes that discipline, unity, and consistent performances during pre-season will translate into greater success in the upcoming NPFL season.
