Abdulmalik pushes for Boreham Wood exit after three Djurgarden bids

Abdul Abdulmalik has made clear his desire to leave Boreham Wood after Swedish club Djurgarden had a third bid rejected for the highly rated winger. The latest proposal was reportedly worth £1.5 million, but the National League club remain reluctant to sell their prized forward.

Djurgarden had previously seen offers of around £750,000 and £1 million rejected before returning with the improved £1.5m proposal. The latest bid would represent a major fee for a National League player and underline the Swedish club's determination to sign Abdulmalik.

The 23-year-old enjoyed an impressive 2025/26 campaign as Boreham Wood reached the National League play-off final. He scored in the Wembley final against Rochdale and also provided an assist, although his side eventually lost on penalties after surrendering a two-goal lead.

Abdulmalik's season helped establish him as one of the division's most exciting attacking players. ESPN's National League statistics list him among Boreham Wood's leading scorers and also show his contribution in the assist charts.

His form has now created a difficult situation for Boreham Wood. Manager Luke Garrard has previously insisted that Abdulmalik remains the club's player, while the winger was left out of the squad for the recent 3-0 win over Forest Green Rovers. That absence increased speculation over whether his future would be resolved before the transfer window closes.

Abdulmalik has now used social media to explain his position. He said opportunities to move forward from the National League are rare and that he wants to take the chance to challenge himself at a higher level.

The winger also thanked Boreham Wood and their supporters for helping his development since he joined the club. He made it clear, however, that he believes the time has come for a new challenge and wants to prove he can reach the highest levels of the game.

Abdulmalik joined Boreham Wood in 2024 after leaving Millwall and later extended his contract until the end of the 2026/27 season, with the club holding an option for another year. That agreement gives Boreham Wood a strong position in negotiations, despite the player's desire to move.

Djurgarden must now decide whether to increase their offer again. For Abdulmalik, the priority will be finding a solution before the transfer window closes and securing the move he believes could accelerate his development.
