Abdallah Praises Disciplined Wolves After Vital Win Over Struggling Peoples Elephant

Posted : 09 March 2026

Warri Wolves strengthened their push for a strong finish in the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season after defeating Enyimba International 2–1 in their Matchday 29 encounter on Sunday.

The victory at the Southern Delta University Stadium in Ozoro, Delta State, lifted the Seasiders to ninth position on the NPFL table with 39 points from 29 matches, keeping them within reach of the league’s top four.

For Enyimba, however, the defeat deepened an already troubling campaign. The former African champions have now slipped into the relegation zone, occupying 17th place with 33 points after eight wins, nine draws, and 12 defeats.

Warri Wolves head coach Hassan Abdallah praised his players for their discipline and tactical execution after securing the crucial win.

“I have been looking forward to this game since I took charge of the club. I thank my players for their perseverance, discipline, and for playing according to instructions. We had a clear plan for this game, and it was executed brilliantly,” the coach said.

Encouraged by the result, Abdallah revealed that the Delta-based side is now targeting a place among the league’s elite before the end of the season.

“My target for the rest of the season is to finish in the top four. We are just seven points away from Abia Warriors in fourth place, and we believe it is achievable,” he added.

The win also eased Warri Wolves further away from relegation danger and maintained their momentum after a recent run of solid results, including a goalless draw away to Niger Tornadoes.

Enyimba had also shown signs of resilience before the clash, battling to a draw in Aba against newly promoted Kun Khalifat. However, their inability to convert chances into victories has continued to hurt their campaign.

The Peoples Elephant have undergone several changes within their coaching crew this season, but the reforms are yet to produce the consistency that once made the Aba giants one of the most feared teams in Nigerian football.

Their current position on the table has sparked concern among supporters, with many urging the players and technical crew to fight hard to preserve the club’s NPFL status.

Enyimba will now return to Aba for a crucial fixture against Plateau United — a match that could prove decisive in their battle to escape the drop zone.
