5 star Doma Utd FC set for goal-shy Bendel Insurance FC in Gombe

Fresh from their outstanding five-star performance against their neighboring team, Doma United FC is ready to host the goal-shy Bendel Insurance Football Club from Benin City for the rescheduled Match Day 6 of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

The Benin Arsenals reportedly arrived in Gombe by flight on Tuesday in preparation for the rescheduled match against Doma United at the Pantami Township Stadium in Gombe on Wednesday.

Both teams secured victories in their respective Match Day 7 matches on Sunday. Insurance narrowly defeated Remo Stars 1-0 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, while Doma convincingly beat Gombe United 3-0 at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe, enjoying immense support from their home fans.

Osayi Kingdom, Emmanuel Jesam, and Technical Adviser Akinade Onigbinde were all selected for the Naija Footballers' Team of the Week.

Insurance has come to Gombe town to test the determination of their hosts, who are still celebrating their impressive victory over their more renowned neighbors. This victory marked their second win in five matches, helping them climb from 18th to 15th position in the league standings.

This match will be a test of character for the NPFL newcomers, as Insurance aims to avoid losing their second game at this venue, having previously suffered a 1-0 defeat to Gombe United on match day.

Insurance has played an equal number of matches in the campaign but has fared better with three wins, a draw, and a loss, placing them in 7th position on the league table with 10 points.

A victory in this match will elevate Benin Arsenal to either second or third position in the standings, displacing Enugu Rangers or Remo Stars, both with 13 points each and goal differences of +5 and +2, respectively.

A win for the Tigers will increase their points to 10 and position them several places above the mid-table.
