The Head Coach of Shooting Stars Sports Club, 3SC, Gbenga Ogunbote, has assured fans and supporters of the club to expect a continental ticket at the end of the season.
The Oracle, as Ogunbote is fondly called, stated this during a media parley at the Club's office in Jericho, Ibadan.
The former Remo Stars and Rangers FC coach noted that he had identified a few areas in the team, and the management has acceded to his request to add new players to his team.
However, Ogunbote acknowledged the inconsistent run of form the team experienced in the first stanza of the 2023/24 Nigeria Professional Football League season (NPFL).
The Oluyole Warriors ended the first stanza on a bad note, losing 2-1 to visiting Enyimba FC on Sunday, leaving them in the 11th position on the log with 23 points from 18 matches and a game in hand.
Ogunbote explained that the squad had been hampered by injuries, limiting his options in certain matches, and thus, they will add a few players to fortify the team.
“I sincerely wish to appreciate the fans and supporters of the club for the love shown to us. This is indeed a great club with a rich history. I would like to enjoin the fans not to lose confidence in us. Shooting Stars is their team, and we are going to come back strongly.
“We implore them to show us more love in this trying period. We need them behind us to churn out good results. We are not happy too, but that is football,” Ogunbote said.
“There are going to be a few additions to the team before the commencement of the second stanza. We have injury worries and a lack of confidence among a few players, but that is not an excuse.
“We still have some time to make adjustments, and we are going to go clinical in all departments to effect these changes. Also, we are going to harp on tactical discipline to change the fortune of the club,” he said.
