Ibom Angels will be aiming to settle old scores when they face Bayelsa Queens in the Round of 16 of the 2026 President Federation Cup on Tuesday in Awka, Anambra State.
Having suffered two defeats to the Prosperity Girls during the regular season, the Orange Ladies see the knockout encounter as an opportunity to turn the tables and keep their trophy ambitions alive.
Assistant captain and first-choice goalkeeper, God'stime Arek, believes her side has what it takes to overcome their South-South rivals despite missing out on a place in the Nigeria Women Football League Super Six.
According to the shot-stopper, the Federation Cup represents a chance for the team to end the season on a positive note.
"We are determined to make this competition count for us after failing to qualify for the Super Six. I believe in my teammates and I am confident we can defeat Bayelsa Queens," Arek stated.
Ibom Angels' leading scorer, Happiness Agboye, also expressed confidence ahead of the clash, insisting she is eager to help her side avoid a third defeat against the Yenagoa-based club this season.
The forward vowed to play a decisive role in the encounter and backed her teammates across all departments to deliver a strong performance.
"I don't want Bayelsa Queens to beat us again. I am confident of scoring and helping my team secure victory. Everyone in the squad is fully focused on getting the job done," Agboye said.
Ibom Angels booked their place in the Round of 16 following a 2-0 victory over Fortress Ladies in Enugu, while Bayelsa Queens edged past Ekiti Queens with a narrow 1-0 win.
The highly anticipated South-South derby is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Tuesday in Awka, with a place in the quarter-finals at stake.
This high-stakes encounter promises to showcase intense tactical execution and deep determination from both regional heavyweights. With a quarter-final ticket on the line, the matchup provides the perfect platform for Ibom Angels to salvage their season or for Bayelsa Queens to reassert their dominance.
