Defending champions Rivers Angels delivered a frightening reminder of their dominance in the women’s President Federation Cup with a crushing 12-0 demolition of NAF Queens in the Round of 32 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

The Pride of Rivers, chasing a record-extending 11th title, produced one of the most devastating performances in recent tournament history as they overwhelmed their opponents from start to finish with relentless attacking football.

Rivers Angels wasted no time asserting their authority, opening the scoring in the 9th minute through Grace Saliu after a fine assist from Ifeoma Ikenokwalu. The early goal set the tone for what became a one-sided encounter.

Abasiofon Uwah doubled the advantage ten minutes later after being picked out by Ramotalahi Kareem, before Saliu grabbed her second of the afternoon in the 25th minute following a rebound inside the area.

Patience Otubo added the fourth just before the break to leave NAF Queens completely stunned heading into halftime.

Any hopes of recovery disappeared immediately after the restart as Kareem got on the scoresheet four minutes into the second half, while Tejiri Edward made it six in the 56th minute.

Rivers Angels maintained their intensity despite the comfortable lead, with tactical substitutions adding fresh energy to the attack. Peace Effiong, Taiwo Ajibade, and Chisom Nwachukwu all made second-half appearances and instantly made an impact.

Zainab Oduga netted the seventh goal before Nwachukwu extended the tally to eight as the defending champions continued their ruthless display.

The closing stages, however, belonged entirely to returning forward Peace Effiong, who marked her comeback from injury in spectacular fashion. The striker scored four goals within a blistering 15-minute spell, finding the back of the net in the 73rd, 80th, 83rd, and 86th minutes to complete the historic rout.

The emphatic victory not only secured Rivers Angels a place in the next round but also sent a strong warning to the rest of the competition that the Port Harcourt side remain the team to beat in the race for this year’s title.

This record-breaking performance cements the pedigree of the holders as they progress further into the knockout stages. Their ruthless efficiency in front of goal sets a high standard for any opponent facing them next in the tournament.
