The Pride of Rivers made a fast start as Chijioke Mbaoma headed home Ubong Friday’s pinpoint cross in the 5th minute. Wisdom Samuel doubled the advantage before halftime, combining smartly with Taofeek Otaniyi before driving past two defenders and finishing into the bottom corner.
Goalkeeper Osagie Onisodumeya also played a key role, producing a crucial point-blank save to preserve the 2-0 lead at the break.
Rangers responded after the restart. Godwin Obaje converted from the penalty spot in the 59th minute, and Precious Agu equalized two minutes later to set up a tense finish.
With penalties looming, Surveyor struck late in added time, capitalizing on a goalkeeper error to slam home the winner and send Rivers United through.
