Posted : 19 May 2026

Nigeria’s oldest domestic football competition returns with fresh intrigue and possible giant-killing encounters as the Round of 64 of the 2026 President Federation Cup takes centre stage across different venues nationwide.

With traditional powerhouses, lower division underdogs, and ambitious academy sides all in action, attention will be focused on several mouthwatering ties expected to shape the early narrative of this year’s competition.

One of the standout fixtures will see Wikki Tourists confront Jigawa Golden Stars in Kaduna in what promises to be a fierce northern derby between two experienced campaigners.

Defending champions Kwara United begin their title defence against youthful side Sporting Supreme U19 in Anyigba, while Shooting Stars face a difficult hurdle against dangerous Kebbi United at the Abuja Goal Project.

Former African champions Enyimba will battle El-Sharma FC in Abuja Bwari, as Rivers United take on Lagos-based G12 FC in Benin City.

There is also growing interest around surprise package Ahudiannem FC, who will test their strength against Plateau United in Makurdi, while last year’s runners-up Abakaliki FC square up against ABU DLC in another potentially tricky encounter.

Elsewhere, Bendel Insurance confront Katsina United Jnr in Abuja Area 3, Bayelsa United meet OISA FC in Port Harcourt, and Ikorodu City will attempt to avoid an upset against Gaa Akanbi in Ibadan.

Niger Tornadoes also face a stern examination against Sunshine Stars U19 in Ilorin, while Enugu Rangers tackle Godswill Akpabio FC in Aba.
