It was a glorious day to savour for years to come as Mighty Jets Mata FC of Jos caused a major upset to lift their first ever trophy since their formation 3 years ago with a comfortable 3-0 win over city rivals Plateau United Queens FC.
Two goals in the first half from Jemimah Daniel and Beatrice Okoh saw the Jets side in a commanding position for a potential glory ahead.
The second half resumed with Plateau United Queens mounting serious pressure in an attempt for a possible comeback, but Jets goalkeeper Paulina John produced a series of sensational saves to deny the Queens on several occasions.
However, there would be yet another moment for the Jets ladies to punish the Queens again as Blessing Swatvel seized a rare opportunity to lift the ball high above the Queens' goalkeeper into an empty net to make it three and officially putting an end to any hope of a comeback from the Queens.
It would be recalled that Mighty Jets Mata FC became the first ever female team from Plateau State to reach the round of 16 of the Women's National President Federation Cup after achieving the feat last year.
According to the Assistant General Manager of the club, Salisu Nakanade, MON, the team is in high spirit to surpass the previous record.
General Manager of the club Mbum Ferdinand, who was visibly elated after embracing his first major trophy, praised the determination of the female team and promised more support and motivation to further boost the side.
In making this day a reality however, a huge commendation must be given to coach Gadus Frank whose patience, determination and expertise were the major driving forces behind the success of the young Mighty Jets Mata FC in lifting their first ever trophy after just three years of formation.
``Congratulations to the victorious female team from the entire Mighty Jets Int'l FC family and all the best as they go on to represent Plateau State in this year's National President Federation Cup,'' he said.
This historic victory marks a significant milestone for the Jos-based club as they cement their status as a rising power in Nigerian women's football. With the trophy secured, the team now shifts its focus to the national stage with renewed confidence and administrative backing. This triumph reflects the hard work of the players and coaching staff in establishing a winning culture within just three years.
