Yewa FA have booked their place in the Nationwide League One (NLO) promotional playoffs after edging FC Ebedei 1-0 in the rescheduled playoff fixture at the Maracana Stadium, Ajegunle, Lagos.
The encounter resumed from the 41st minute after the original match, played in Akure on Saturday, was abandoned following a controversial walkout by FC Ebedei players.
With qualification hanging in the balance, Yewa FA dominated proceedings and were eventually rewarded five minutes from regulation time.
Prolific forward Hadi Abdulsalam, who has now scored 10 goals in 11 appearances this season, expertly controlled a pass inside the penalty area before calmly slotting home the decisive goal in the 85th minute.
The victory extended Yewa FA's unbeaten run in the current NLO campaign to 11 matches, with nine wins and two draws, underlining the team's impressive consistency throughout the season.
Despite the controversy surrounding the abandoned fixture, Coach Abdulquadri Bolaji's side remained composed and focused to secure the result that earned them a place in the promotional playoffs, where they will battle for a place in the Nigeria National League (NNL).
Reacting after the victory, Yewa FA administrator Mojeed Ibrahim praised the players and coaching crew for their determination and professionalism.
He said the team showed remarkable resilience by overcoming the distractions surrounding the fixture and staying committed to achieving its objective.
"This is a proud moment for the team, and I sincerely commend the boys for their outstanding performance.
"I also appreciate our founder, Promise David, and our proprietor and father, Solomon David, for their unwavering support, which has made this achievement possible," Ibrahim said.
He urged the players and officials not to lose focus, stressing that qualifying for the promotional playoffs is only the first step, with the club's ultimate ambition being promotion to the Nigeria National League.
The narrow victory confirms the team's readiness for the next stage of the competition as they transition into the high-stakes promotional rounds. Maintaining this discipline will be vital for Coach Bolaji's squad as they prepare to square off against the nation's remaining elite grassroots sides. With institutional backing and an intact unbeaten streak, the club remains structurally positioned to secure its historic ascension to the division above.
