2026 NLO: Magashi confident Police Machine will qualify for playoffs

Posted : 18 May 2026

Police Machine moved to the summit of Area 3 Group A after a commanding 3-0 victory over Fire Service FC, with head coach Magashi Tenerzirus expressing strong belief that his side will secure qualification for the 2026 NLO playoffs.

The crucial win on Sunday saw Police Machine bounce back in style from their previous defeat to Derby FC, as Edward Ochigbo grabbed a brace while Amadi Chibuike converted from the penalty spot to complete the dominant performance.

The result lifted Police Machine to 16 points, one ahead of close rivals RBM Sports, setting the stage for a decisive final-day showdown between both sides on Wednesday.

Reacting after the encounter, Coach Magashi described the victory as a vital response following the disappointment of their last outing.

“We are very, very happy. These three points were necessary because after losing our last match to Derby FC, our target was to return to winning ways and get back to the top of the table,” he said.

“It’s a huge victory for us and the players understood the importance of this match.”

With qualification now hanging on the final fixture against RBM Sports, the Police Machine tactician revealed that preparations are already in top gear, insisting that his team will approach the encounter with a winning mentality rather than settling for a draw.

According to Magashi, he has closely monitored RBM Sports in recent matches and has already developed tactical plans to stop them.

“I’ve watched them play two matches and I already have my game plan. By God’s grace, we are going there for all three points because I’ve studied them well and we are working on how to approach the game,” he stated.

“A draw is not what I want. Our objective is to win and finish the job.”

The team remains fully focused on execution and tactical discipline ahead of the high-stakes final fixture. Coach Magashi is confident that his squad possesses the right mentality to overcome their closest rivals and seal their promotion target. By prioritizing a victory over a defensive approach, Police Machine aims to crown their impressive group stage campaign with a definitive performance that ensures their progression to the next phase of the competition.
