2026 NLO: AA FC beat FOSLA FC to consolidate lead in Group B

Posted : 12 May 2026

AA FC tightened their hold on the top spot in Group B of the 2026 NLO season with an impressive 2-0 victory over FOSLA FC in a highly anticipated encounter at the Area 3 Pitch.

The unbeaten table-toppers produced another commanding performance, striking early in both halves to secure all three points and preserve their invincible run in the group.

With a large crowd of NLO followers in attendance, the match began at a frantic pace as both sides showed intent from the opening whistle.

FOSLA FC nearly stunned the league leaders in the early exchanges when their influential forward, Bukie Julius, rose highest to connect with a corner kick, but goalkeeper Jackson Daniel reacted brilliantly to keep the effort out.

AA FC responded in style and made their first meaningful attacking move count in the 11th minute. Chibuzor Madu threaded a neat pass into the path of Verniel Emmanuel, who cut in from the left flank, shrugged off his marker with quick footwork and fired beyond the goalkeeper to hand AA a deserved lead.

The opener visibly unsettled FOSLA FC, who struggled to find rhythm and cohesion afterwards. AA FC dictated possession and tempo for long spells while limiting their opponents to few clear opportunities before the halftime whistle.

FOSLA came out with renewed urgency after the break and almost restored parity in the 57th minute. Sherif Jubril found himself unmarked inside the penalty area after a teasing cross, but the midfielder failed to compose himself as his effort sailed harmlessly wide.

AA FC nearly doubled their advantage moments later through Justice Onyekachi, who was picked out in a promising position inside the box, only to blast his effort over the crossbar.

The second goal eventually arrived in the 73rd minute following a well-worked set-piece routine. Joshua Igwoche whipped in a dangerous inswinging free-kick from the left wing and Abdulazeez Ademoh reacted quickest at the near post, directing a clever header beyond the goalkeeper and defenders to put the game beyond reach.

Despite trailing by two goals, FOSLA FC continued to push forward and were unfortunate not to get on the scoresheet. Bukie Julius came closest late in the encounter when his fierce strike rattled the crossbar, but AA FC stood firm defensively to record another important victory.

The result ensures AA FC remain three points clear at the summit of Group B while extending their unbeaten streak in what is shaping up to be a remarkable campaign for the newcomers. This clinical victory further cements their status as the team to beat as the season progresses toward the crucial stages. The squad continues to demonstrate the tactical discipline and finishing required to maintain their championship aspirations.
