Nigeria’s camp has come alive ahead of Saturday’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying clash with Rwanda, with captain William Ekong leading by example.
The Saudi Arabia-based defender arrived early in Uyo, joined by goalkeeper Amas Obasogie and defenders Bruno Onyemaechi and Felix Agu. Agu, who impressed at left-back during the Unity Cup Tournament in London this summer, will be pushing for a starting spot.
Forward Moses Simon, fresh off scoring and assisting in Paris FC’s league win at the weekend, is also in camp. He is joined by Greece-based goalkeeper Adeleye Adebayo, defenders Chidozie Awaziem and Benjamin Fredericks, and midfielders Wilfred Ndidi, Frank Onyeka, and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
Other arrivals include wing-back Olaoluwa Aina, defenders Bright Osayi-Samuel and Calvin Bassey, as well as midfielder Alex Iwobi.
First-choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, back in training after a minor injury scare, is expected soon. Also awaited are midfielder Christantus Uche, who recently signed for Crystal Palace from Getafe, and forwards Samuel Chukwueze (now at Fulham), Tolu Arokodare (Wolverhampton Wanderers), and Cyriel Dessers (Panathinaikos).
African Player of the Year Ademola Lookman, Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen, and midfielder Raphael Onyedika are also set to join camp.
The squad of 23 players will not only face Rwanda in Uyo on Saturday but will also travel to Bloemfontein for a Matchday 8 showdown against South Africa at the Toyota Stadium (Free State Stadium) next Tuesday evening.
