Two-time World Cup silver medallists, Nigeria’s Falconets, have commenced training in Ibadan, Oyo State, ahead of Saturday’s decisive second-leg clash against Rwanda’s She-Amavubi in the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
On arrival in the state capital, the delegation of players and officials was welcomed by the Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke. She assured the team of the state government’s unwavering support and encouragement while offering prayers for success in the crucial encounter.
Captain Joy Igbokwe, speaking on behalf of the team, expressed gratitude to the government and pledged the Falconets’ determination to deliver a strong performance and make Nigeria proud.
Meanwhile, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Gambian referee Ngum Fatou to officiate the game. She will be assisted by compatriots Jainaba Manneh (assistant referee 1), Abbie Ceesay (assistant referee 2), and Isatou Touray (fourth official). Liberia’s Jodie Marian Reid Seton will serve as match commissioner, while Egypt’s Hayam Mohammed Baraka will act as referee assessor.
