2026/2027 NPFL: Shooting Stars Unveil Chowdeck, BOVAS Partnerships, Target Trophies

Posted : 28 August 2026

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) have entered the 2026/2027 football season with renewed commercial strength and an ambitious sporting agenda, unveiling Chowdeck as the club’s headline sponsor while setting their sights on silverware on all fronts.

The Oluyole Warriors made the announcement on Thursday at the Tennis Court Arena of the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Ibadan, during a media briefing addressed by key officials of the club.

The new season promises to be a demanding one for the Ibadan side, who will compete in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), President Federation Cup and CAF Confederation Cup.

Executive Chairman, Taiwo Lekan Salami, said the partnership with Chowdeck represented more than a commercial arrangement, stressing that both organisations shared values and ambitions that could translate into meaningful impact beyond football.

The club also announced a major partnership with BOVAS Group, following months of negotiations. Salami described the deal as another significant step in the club’s efforts to strengthen its commercial foundation and build an institution capable of competing at the highest level.

He noted that BOVAS Group’s strong presence in Ibadan, with more than 50 filling stations across the city, made the partnership particularly significant.

For Chowdeck Chief Executive Officer, Femi Aluko, the decision to partner with Shooting Stars was influenced by the club’s historic status, achievements and huge following.

Aluko described 3SC as one of Nigeria’s biggest and most celebrated football clubs, adding that the relationship also carried a personal connection for him, as his father has remained a passionate supporter of the Oluyole Warriors since their celebrated years in the 1970s.

He said Chowdeck was excited to be associated with the club and expressed confidence that the partnership would produce positive results for both organisations.

Head of Engineering and Projects at BOVAS Group, Tolulope Ayediran, disclosed that the partnership with Shooting Stars would run for five years, expressing optimism that the long-term relationship would create greater visibility and opportunities for both parties.

While the commercial developments provide a major boost off the pitch, Shooting Stars are equally determined to make their presence felt on it.

Salami declared that the club would approach the new campaign with the ambition of winning every available trophy, rather than simply settling for an improvement on last season’s performance.

“The players and technical team are ready for the task ahead,” he said, emphasising the importance of competing strongly in the NPFL, President Federation Cup and CAF Confederation Cup.

The chairman also revealed plans to improve the club’s infrastructure, including the construction of a modern players’ hostel with sporting and essential facilities designed to provide a better environment for training, development and professional football operations.

Meanwhile, the club’s transfer activities have also received attention, with Sporting Director Tobi Adepoju providing an update on player movements during the off-season.

Adepoju revealed that four key players had left the club in search of fresh opportunities, while Shooting Stars generated transfer revenue from two players who were still under contract. Two additional players departed as free agents.

Despite the exits, he assured supporters that the club had responded proactively in the transfer market by recruiting quality replacements ahead of the new season.

Chief Operating Officer, Bunmi Fadayomi, expressed appreciation to the club’s supporters, partners and other stakeholders for their contributions to the preparations.

He also announced plans to make matchday tickets and official Shooting Stars merchandise available at the stadium and through Chowdeck platforms, giving fans greater convenience in accessing the club’s products and matchday experience.

The first opportunity to translate the club’s renewed confidence into action comes on Friday when Shooting Stars host newly promoted Inter Lagos in their opening NPFL fixture.

With stronger commercial backing, plans for improved infrastructure and a squad assembled for a demanding three-front campaign, the Oluyole Warriors are hoping the 2026/2027 season will mark the beginning of a new era of success for one of Nigeria’s most historic football clubs.
