2026/2027 EuroMatch NPFL Season: Barau FC Plan Steward Training as GM Rejects Crisis Claims

Posted : 27 October 2026

Barau FC management has dismissed reports of a crisis within the club, insisting that the team’s league performance remains encouraging despite concerns over the conduct of some matchday stewards.

The club’s General Manager, Dominic Lorfa, gave the assurance while addressing sports writers in Kano following complaints about stewards’ conduct during the EuroMatch Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) encounter between Barau FC and Kwara United at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata.

Lorfa expressed displeasure over the stewards’ alleged failure to protect players, coaches and officials before, during and after the match.

He warned that the management would not tolerate misconduct or any behaviour capable of damaging the club’s reputation.

“Football is not a do-or-die affair. It is either you win, draw or lose. We need to protect the image of the club as a private team, Kano, as well as the country in general,” he said.

To address the concerns, Lorfa disclosed that the management was considering organising a workshop to educate stewards on their responsibilities and expected conduct during matchday operations.

He stressed that supporters and stewards should accept match results in good faith rather than direct their frustrations at players, coaches or club officials.

According to him, Barau FC’s record of three wins, five draws and one defeat in the league reflects a respectable performance that deserves encouragement rather than criticism.

“The team won three, drew five and lost only a match. So, it is not a bad result. We should appreciate and encourage the players, officials and coaches to do more,” he explained.

The general manager also called on football stakeholders to support both Barau FC and Kano Pillars, noting that the two clubs represent Kano and the wider northern region in Nigerian football.

He commended the club’s proprietor, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and its president, Shawwal Barau Jibrin, for their commitment and continued support.

On the club’s welfare arrangements, Lorfa praised the proprietor for providing substantial financial and moral support to players, coaches and officials.

He maintained that the management, technical crew and players remained committed to improving the team’s performance and achieving their season’s objectives.

Barau FC will next travel to Ibadan to face Shooting Stars Sports Club, popularly known as 3SC, in their Matchday 11 fixture of the 2026/2027 EuroMatch NPFL season this weekend.
