Rangers International responded to their weekend setback against Ikorodu City with a crucial 1-0 victory over Warri Wolves in Ozoro on Wednesday to reclaim top spot in the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The defending champions showed resilience to secure maximum points in a closely contested rescheduled Matchday 2 encounter and immediately put their 2-0 defeat to Ikorodu City behind them.
The victory lifted the Flying Antelopes to 13 points from six matches, comprising four wins, one draw, and one defeat.
Rangers now hold a one-point advantage over Rivers United at the summit as the early title race continues to take shape.
Having surrendered their unbeaten run against Ikorodu City on Sunday, Rangers needed a positive response, and the champions delivered by grinding out the narrow victory against Warri Wolves.
The result further underlined their ability to recover quickly from setbacks as they continue their defence of the NPFL title.
Rangers’ victory in Ozoro restores them to the top of the NPFL standings and provides an immediate response to their first defeat of the campaign. The champions will now look to build on the result as the 2026/27 season progresses.
