Shooting Stars rediscovered their winning touch with a 3-1 victory over Ranchers Bees in Friday’s Matchday 9 encounter of the 2026/2027 EuroMatch Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) in Ibadan.
The victory offered head coach Salisu Yusuf some respite, ending the Oluyole Warriors’ losing streak while providing a timely boost to their campaign.
Desmond Ojietefian, Damilola Akinola and Qamar Adegoke scored to secure maximum points for the hosts, while Isah Ndala Aliyu’s first-half effort proved insufficient for Ranchers Bees.
Shooting Stars started brightly, with Ojietefian opening the scoring in the 14th minute as the hosts sought an early breakthrough.
Ranchers Bees responded through Ndala Aliyu in the 38th minute, briefly threatening to frustrate the home side and improve their own prospects of a positive result.
However, Akinola restored Shooting Stars’ advantage deep into first-half stoppage time, scoring in the 45th+3 minute to send the hosts into the break with a 2-1 lead.
The second half offered further drama when Shooting Stars were awarded a penalty in the 48th minute after Ibrahim Inuwa handled the ball inside the box.
Ranchers Bees goalkeeper Tofa kept his team in contention by saving Sodiq Ibrahim’s spot-kick in the 52nd minute, temporarily denying the hosts an opportunity to widen the gap.
The reprieve proved temporary, as Adegoke produced the decisive moment in the 71st minute, beating his marker before squeezing the ball into the net from a difficult angle to extend Shooting Stars’ lead to 3-1.
The hosts subsequently managed the game to secure a valuable victory, with their three goals highlighting an improved attacking display after a difficult run of results.
For Yusuf, the result represents an important opportunity to rebuild confidence and restore belief within the squad as the league campaign progresses.
Ranchers Bees, meanwhile, must address their defensive shortcomings after conceding three goals, despite showing enough attacking intent to draw level in the first half.
