2026/2027 EuroMatch NPFL Match Day 9: Kwara United Seek Home Breakthrough Against Abia Warriors

Posted : 18 October 2026

Kwara United will seek to end their home winless run against Abia Warriors when both sides clash in Saturday’s Matchday 9 fixture of the 2026/2027 EuroMatch Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) at the George Innih Stadium, Ilorin.

The Harmony Boys head into the encounter determined to turn their recent struggles into a positive result, with victory crucial to their efforts to regain momentum in the league.

The Ilorin-based club have drawn their last two home meetings with Abia Warriors, a record they hope to overturn before their supporters at the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl.

The team’s determination was evident during Thursday’s final training session, as players intensified preparations for the encounter.

Kwara United have also received a boost with the return of Tosin Olawale and Ezenabo Somtochukwu to training following injuries.

Sani Mohammed, who sustained a minor injury against Ikorodu City, is expected to return next week, while goalkeeper Ouattara Khalifa remains unavailable.

A major concern for the technical crew, however, is the team’s inability to convert scoring opportunities, an issue Head Coach Ashifat Sulyman has pledged to address.

Sulyman said the coaching staff remained committed to improving the players’ finishing and ensuring the team capitalised on clear chances.

“We are disturbed by our inability to convert glorious chances during our matches. However, we will not rest until that is corrected,” he said.

Meanwhile, the club has appealed to supporters to maintain their backing of the team by turning out for Saturday’s fixture and purchasing match tickets.

Kwara United expressed appreciation to fans who had embraced its ticketing initiative, urging more supporters to buy tickets as the club strengthens its operations in line with modern football business practices.

Tickets are available through Chowdeck sales points at the stadium, while the club promised additional initiatives aimed at improving the matchday experience and comfort of supporters.

With a home victory firmly in their sights, Kwara United have called on Kwarans to fill the stands and provide the encouragement needed to help the Harmony Boys secure all three points.
