2026/2027 EuroMatch NPFL Match Day 9: Ikorodu City Seek Winning Streak Against Niger Tornadoes

Posted : 18 October 2026

Ikorodu City FC will seek to extend their winning run when they visit Niger Tornadoes in Sunday’s Matchday 9 fixture of the 2026/2027 EuroMatch Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) at the Bako Kontagora Stadium, Minna.

The Oga Boys travel north with renewed confidence after consecutive 2-0 victories over Kwara United and Enugu Rangers, results that have strengthened their belief ahead of another demanding league assignment.

Captain Farouk Salami opened the scoring with a header against Kwara United at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena before Ikechukwu Junior added a second to seal the victory.

The challenge for Ikorodu City now is to reproduce that attacking efficiency away from home, where tactical discipline and composure could prove decisive against the hosts.

Niger Tornadoes, however, will be eager to capitalise on home advantage as they seek to frustrate the Lagos-based visitors and collect valuable points.

The Minna-based side recorded a 1-0 victory over Kun Khalifat FC before settling for a goalless draw against Ranchers Bees in their most recent league outing.

Those results suggest that the hosts could pose a difficult challenge, particularly if they maintain their defensive organisation and exploit opportunities on the counterattack.

For Ikorodu City, maintaining concentration throughout the contest will be essential, especially against opponents determined to protect their home ground.

The visitors will also need to sustain the attacking sharpness that produced four goals without reply across their last two matches while remaining alert to Niger Tornadoes’ threats.

With both teams seeking to strengthen their league positions, Sunday’s encounter presents Ikorodu City with an opportunity to demonstrate their growing consistency and establish themselves as serious contenders for another positive result on the road.
