Kwara United produced a spirited second-half comeback to defeat Ranchers Bees 2-1 in their 2026/2027 Euromatch Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday Seven encounter at the George Innih Stadium Complex, Ilorin.
The Harmony Boys recovered from a frustrating first half to overturn an early deficit and secure all three points in front of their home supporters.
Ranchers Bees stunned the hosts in the seventh minute when Jamilu Yusuf put the Kaduna-based side ahead.
His effort appeared to pose little danger, but the ball took an unfortunate deflection off Kwara United goalkeeper Stanley Victor’s leg and rolled into the net.
Kwara United responded with sustained pressure and came close to equalising when Sanni Mohammed found himself one-on-one with the Ranchers Bees goalkeeper, but his effort was saved.
Despite creating several opportunities, the Harmony Boys could not find the breakthrough before the interval and went into the dressing room a goal down.
The hosts returned for the second half with greater urgency, and their persistence paid off in the 51st minute.
Gidado Toyeeb rose to meet a well-delivered cross from substitute Adeshina Gata and powered his header beyond the goalkeeper to restore parity.
Kwara United’s momentum received another boost when Ranchers Bees were reduced to 10 men after Faisal Sanni was sent off for a second bookable offence.
With the numerical advantage, the Harmony Boys intensified their search for the winning goal and eventually completed the turnaround in the 79th minute.
Substitute Qudus Opeyemi started the move with a pass to Aliu Ferinyaro, who delivered a quality cross into the box for Stephen Gideon.
Gideon rose highest to head the ball into the net, triggering wild celebrations among the home supporters and completing Kwara United’s comeback.
His influential display earned him the Cyteck Man of the Match award, presented by the sponsor, Engr. Ahmed Olaide.
Kwara United head coach Ashifat Sulyman praised his players for showing resilience and determination to recover from the early setback.
He maintained that the Harmony Boys deserved the victory based on their overall performance.
The three points move Kwara United into eighth position on the NPFL table, giving the Ilorin side further encouragement as the campaign gathers momentum.
The Harmony Boys will next travel to Lagos to face Ikorodu City on Saturday, with hopes of extending their improved run in the competition.
