2026/2027 Euromatch NPFL Match Day 7: Enyimba Build Momentum as NPFL Race Intensifies

Posted : 05 October 2026

Enyimba International FC are gradually turning their season around after securing a second successive victory, defeating Plateau United 2-0 in their 2026/2027 Euromatch Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday Seven encounter.

The Aba giants, who endured a difficult start to the campaign, produced another encouraging display to collect maximum points and move to seven points on the table.

Ifeanyi Ihemekwele opened the scoring for Enyimba in the 29th minute before Richard Ezinna added the second goal in the 68th minute to complete another important victory for the former champions.

The result marks a significant improvement in Enyimba’s fortunes following their troubled opening matches and offers renewed hope that the club can move clear of the relegation zone.

The battle for points was equally intense elsewhere, with several clubs recording results that further tightened the standings.

Kwara United came from behind to defeat Ranchers Bees 2-1. Jamilu Yusuf gave the visitors the lead as early as the seventh minute, but Kwara United responded after the break through Toheeb Gidado, who levelled five minutes into the second half.

Stephen Gideon completed the turnaround in the 77th minute to hand Kwara United all three points.

Niger Tornadoes also secured a crucial victory in their fight for points, edging Kun Khalifat 1-0 through Ismaila Sarki’s 82nd-minute strike.

At the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, Shooting Stars and Nasarawa United could not find a breakthrough as they settled for a goalless draw.

Inter Lagos and Katsina United also shared the points in a 1-1 draw. Nura Abdulbari put the visitors ahead in the 34th minute before Kevwe Iyede equalised for Inter Lagos eight minutes later.

At the summit, Rangers International remain in command with 16 points, closely followed by Rivers United on 15 points, while Doma United occupy third position with 13 points.

The congested nature of the table means every result is becoming increasingly significant, with the battle for continental places and survival taking shape after seven rounds of matches.

Barau FC’s first defeat of the campaign and Enyimba’s consecutive victories have added another dimension to the competition, with the early-season picture beginning to change at both ends of the standings.
