2026/2027 Euromatch NPFL Match Day 6: Enyimba’s Battling Elephants Earn First Point in Kano

Enyimba International FC secured their first point of the 2026/2027 Euromatch Nigeria Premier Football League season after battling to a goalless draw in Kano on Match Day 6.

The Aba side produced a determined defensive performance, with goalkeeper Dede Dare emerging as a key figure as the visitors withstood sustained pressure from the hosts while creating opportunities of their own.

Enyimba showed attacking intent from the early stages, with Iyanda Tobi finding the net in the 14th minute, only for the effort to be ruled out for offside after a promising exchange with Ihemekwele.

The hosts responded with pressure of their own, but Dare stood firm, making a crucial intervention in the 27th minute to keep the scores level.

Three minutes later, Enyimba threatened again when Ihemekwele was played through by Iyanda, but the assistant referee’s flag again halted the move for offside.

Dare continued to provide security behind the defence, making two important saves before half-time to ensure the Elephants went into the break with the score still goalless.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Enyimba remaining organised while looking for openings on the counter.

Dare produced another double save in the 50th minute before the match was temporarily interrupted by strong winds.

Play resumed despite the difficult conditions, with the weather affecting the flight of the ball and adding another challenge to an already closely contested encounter.

Enyimba gradually pushed forward in search of a breakthrough as the hosts adopted a more cautious approach, but the visitors could not find the decisive touch.

Dare was called into action again late in the contest, producing two saves within three minutes as the game entered 10 minutes of added time.

Enyimba nearly snatched all three points in the closing stages when Iyanda Tobi finished a swift attack involving the lively Wonah William, but the hosts recovered in time to prevent the visitors from claiming a dramatic winner.

The hard-earned point gives Enyimba their first return of the campaign and provides a platform for the Aba side to seek their first victory when they welcome Shooting Stars in their next fixture on Wednesday.
