2026/2027 Euromatch NPFL Match Day 6: Ebah Completes Redemption Arc as Nasarawa United Sink Tornadoes

Harrison Ebah turned a moment of personal disappointment into one of the highlights of Matchday 6, firing Nasarawa United to a 1–0 victory over Niger Tornadoes in a fiercely contested North Central derby at the Lafia City Stadium.

The central defender had endured a difficult outing a week earlier when his own goal contributed to Nasarawa United’s 1–1 home draw against Rivers United.

But Ebah produced a spectacular response against Tornadoes, scoring the decisive goal that handed the Solid Miners a much-needed victory and earned him the Man-of-the-Match award.

The encounter was closely fought from the opening exchanges, with both sides adopting a cautious approach and struggling to create clear-cut opportunities in the final third.

Nasarawa United, however, found the breakthrough in the 20th minute when a partially cleared set-piece dropped invitingly some 35 yards from goal.

Ebah made no mistake, unleashing a powerful long-range effort that flew beyond Niger Tornadoes goalkeeper Jerry Isaac and into the net, sparking jubilant celebrations among the home supporters.

The visitors attempted to respond but found the Nasarawa United defence difficult to break down as the hosts maintained their narrow advantage through the remainder of the contest.

Tornadoes increased their territorial pressure late in the match, but the Solid Miners remained resolute to secure all three points and bounce back from their midweek 2–1 defeat to Kwara United in Ilorin.

The victory lifted Nasarawa United to 13th position with seven points, while Niger Tornadoes dropped to 17th on the standings.

Reflecting on the derby, Nasarawa United assistant coach described the encounter as intense and competitive, expressing satisfaction with the result while acknowledging that the team still had points to recover.

“It's indeed a serious rivalry match. It's intense, interesting and competitive.

“To God be the glory, we have the three points, even though we are not comfortable because we have lost some couple of vital points. However, I believe we will recover, beginning from our next game.”

Niger Tornadoes Technical Adviser Kabir Dogo congratulated Nasarawa United and attributed his side’s defeat to a lapse in concentration.

“Congratulations to Nasarawa United. Both teams did very well, but my team lost concentration, and were punished by United.

“I wish both teams well, going forward.”

Nasarawa United will now turn their attention to Matchday 7, when they travel to Ibadan to face ninth-placed Shooting Stars SC, while Tornadoes will seek a response in their next league assignment.
