2026/2027 Euromatch NPFL Match Day 6: 10-Man Kwara United Suffer Narrow Defeat to Kun Khalifat

Kwara United’s hopes of extending their unbeaten run were dented on Sunday as they fell to a narrow 1–0 defeat to Kun Khalifat in their 2026/2027 Euromatch Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 6 encounter at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.

The Harmony Boys appeared set for a hard-earned point until a crucial moment in the second half altered the balance of the contest.

Mighty Emmanuel was sent off in the 64th minute after being shown a straight red card for a rough challenge on an opponent, leaving Kwara United to negotiate the closing stages with 10 men.

Kun Khalifat quickly capitalised on their numerical advantage, with Agor Chukwuma breaking the deadlock two minutes later to put the hosts in front.

The goal forced Kwara United to chase the game, but the visitors found it difficult to create enough clear-cut opportunities to trouble the Kun Khalifat defence.

The Kwara United technical crew responded with a series of substitutions in search of an equaliser, but Kun Khalifat remained organised and disciplined as they successfully held on to their slender advantage.

The defeat was a frustrating outcome for the Harmony Boys, who had competed on level terms for much of the encounter before the dismissal shifted the momentum in favour of the hosts.

Kwara United head coach, Ashifat Sulyman, expressed disappointment with the result after the match, but remained focused on recovering the points dropped in Owerri.

The result leaves Kwara United 10th on the NPFL table, with the Harmony Boys now turning their attention to Matchday 7, when they will host Ranchers Bees next weekend.
