2026/2027 Euromatch NPFL Match Day 5: Niger Tornadoes Seek Turnaround After Winless Stretch

Niger Tornadoes are seeking to turn around their fortunes after extending their winless run to four matches with a goalless draw against Warri Wolves in the 2026/27 Euromatch Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

The Ikon Allah Boys were held to a frustrating stalemate at the Bako Kontagora Stadium, Minna, on Wednesday, leaving the club with just two points from their last four league outings.

Tornadoes began the campaign brightly with a 2-1 home victory over Enyimba but have struggled to maintain that momentum.

They subsequently lost 3-2 to Kano Pillars, drew 1-1 with Plateau United and suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat against Katsina United before the Warri Wolves stalemate.

The run of results has prompted the club's management to appeal for patience and continued support from their supporters as the team works to correct its shortcomings.

“The result against Warri Wolves was not the outcome we all desired,” the club said in a message to its supporters.

Management acknowledged the disappointment surrounding the dropped points while stressing that the players, coaches, technical crew and officials remain committed to improving the team's performances.

The club also urged supporters not to lose confidence in the team, emphasising that their chants, energy and presence remain important as the season progresses.

Despite their recent struggles, Tornadoes have been more productive at home, collecting five points from three matches, including their victory over Enyimba and draws against Plateau United and Warri Wolves.

Their away record, however, remains without a point after defeats to Kano Pillars and Katsina United.

With the next league assignment coming against Nasarawa United on Sept. 27, the Minna-based side will be looking to convert their renewed determination into a result away from home.

The club described football as a journey that requires resilience, urging its supporters to regard the recent setbacks as part of the process of rebuilding and improvement.
