2026/2027 Euromatch NPFL Match Day 5: Abia Warriors Face Barau FC in Kano

Abia Warriors will seek to build on their impressive weekend victory when they face unbeaten Barau FC in a Match Day 5 encounter at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, on Wednesday.

The Umu Chineke revived their campaign with a 2-0 victory over Sporting Lagos at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, a result that ended their wait for a league win and lifted them to five points from four matches.

The challenge now becomes significantly tougher, with Barau FC presenting one of the strongest starts among the early-season contenders.

The Maliya Boys have remained unbeaten through their opening four matches, collecting eight points from two victories and two draws to occupy second place in the standings.

Their home form will provide an additional challenge for Abia Warriors, with Barau having secured victories in their two home fixtures so far.

The hosts will therefore be looking to maintain their unbeaten start and protect their strong position near the top of the table, while the visitors will attempt to carry the confidence from Lagos into another difficult away assignment.

For Abia Warriors, the recent victory over Sporting Lagos offers an opportunity to begin building consistency after an uneven opening to the campaign.

Their five points from four matches leave them in 10th position, but another positive result in Kano could significantly improve their standing and provide further evidence of a developing revival.

The previous meetings between the clubs also suggest a closely contested encounter, with the two sides having recorded one victory apiece in their two league meetings.

Abia Warriors will also have memories of their previous trip to Kano, where they suffered a 2-0 defeat. They will hope for a different outcome this time as they attempt to extend their improved form.

Barau FC, however, will be determined to make home advantage count once again and preserve their unbeaten record.

With Barau seeking to sustain their challenge near the top of the table and Abia Warriors looking to turn their Lagos breakthrough into a sustained run, Wednesday’s encounter presents a compelling test of both sides’ ambitions.
