2026/2027 Euromatch NPFL Match Day 4: Tornadoes’ Second-half fightback falls short against Katsina United

Niger Tornadoes Technical Adviser, Kabiru Suleiman Dogo, has challenged his players to improve their finishing after their chances went unrewarded in a 1-0 defeat to Katsina United in Saturday’s 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 4 encounter.

The Ikon Allah Boys fell behind in the first half when Abdulrahman found the net for the hosts at the Muhammad Dikko Stadium.

Tornadoes responded strongly after the interval, creating several opportunities as they searched for an equaliser, but poor finishing denied them a share of the points.

Second-half substitute Nafiu Obalowu and experienced striker Wasiu Jimoh came close to restoring parity, but Katsina United held firm to secure the victory.

Dogo acknowledged his team's improved display after the break but said their inability to convert clear chances ultimately determined the outcome.

“This is what happens in football when you don’t take your chances. They got their chance and utilised it, but today we had even clearer opportunities and couldn’t convert any of them.

“Sometimes, you can attribute this to ill luck, but we need to improve, particularly in terms of taking our chances.

“Overall, it was a very good game from both sides.”

The coach said the team would return to Minna to regroup and prepare for their next challenge against Warri Wolves.

“We will go back home and prepare for our next game against Wolves. If you look at our recent results, after drawing at home and losing today, our fans will be expecting a lot from us.

“We will go back, work very hard and make sure we fight to get our own three points as well,” Dogo said.

Tornadoes will host Warri Wolves on Wednesday in their Matchday 5 fixture, with Dogo and his players seeking to respond to the setback in Katsina.
