2026/2027 EuroMatch NPFL Match Day 11: Kano Pillars End Nasarawa United's Unbeaten Run with 2-0 Win

Posted : 03 November 2026

Nasarawa United suffered their first defeat in six matches after losing 2-0 to Kano Pillars in their 2026/2027 EuroMatch Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 11 encounter at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, on Sunday.

The Solid Miners struggled to contain the hosts, who secured maximum points through goals from Ibrahim Yahaya and Fabian Nworie.

Yahaya broke the deadlock in the 14th minute to give Kano Pillars an early advantage, putting the visitors under pressure as they sought to extend their unbeaten run.

Nasarawa United attempted to recover from the setback, but Nworie doubled the hosts' lead in the 64th minute to strengthen Kano Pillars' grip on the contest.

The defeat ended Nasarawa United's impressive sequence of results and saw the Lafia-based side drop to fifth position on the league table.

Despite the setback, head coach Mbwas Mangut remained determined to turn the team's attention towards its next assignment, expressing confidence that his players could respond positively.

The club's management also received encouragement from Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, who urged the team not to be discouraged by the outcome.

“Not so a good day for the guys! But that's the name of the game: win some, and lose some!!

“Have a safe trip back home, guys!!!” the governor said.

Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Jibril Abdullahi Ibrahim, who attended the match to support the team, equally appealed to supporters to remain calm.

Ibrahim described the defeat as a temporary setback and a learning experience, expressing confidence in the commitment of the technical crew and players to the club's season objectives.

Attention has now shifted to Nasarawa United's next fixture against neighbouring Plateau United at the Lafia City Stadium next weekend.

The Solid Miners will be seeking an immediate return to winning ways, with the opportunity to improve their league position as the NPFL campaign progresses.
