2026/2027 EuroMatch NPFL Match Day 10: End Away Goal DroughtOgbolu Rescues Point as Kwara United

Posted : 26 October 2026

Kwara United ended their frustrating wait for an away goal in the 2026/2027 EuroMatch Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, fighting back to secure a 1-1 draw against Barau FC at the Sanni Abacha Stadium, Kano, on Sunday.

Debutant Goodluck Ogbolu proved decisive for the Harmony Boys, coming off the bench to cancel Anthony Sunday's first-half opener and earn the visitors a valuable point in their Matchday 10 encounter.

The result ended Kwara United's unwanted record as the only team yet to score away from home this season, providing a timely boost to their campaign.

Barau FC started brightly and took the lead in the 41st minute through Sunday, rewarding the hosts for their attacking efforts before the interval.

Kwara United struggled to find a response in the opening half but returned with greater attacking intent after the break, determined to avoid another frustrating outing on the road.

Their persistence paid off in the 63rd minute when Ogbolu, introduced for Solomon Shoola, found the net to restore parity and mark his debut with an important goal.

The equaliser lifted the visitors, who continued searching for a winner as the contest opened up.

Issa Gata, brought on for Stephen Gideon, also threatened as Kwara United pressed for a late breakthrough. However, Barau FC maintained their defensive discipline to prevent the visitors from completing the comeback.

Despite missing the opportunity to claim all three points, Kwara United will take encouragement from their improved attacking display and ability to recover from a deficit away from home.

Speaking after the match, head coach Ashifat Sulyman expressed confidence in the team's progress, promising to build on the result.

“This is the way to move forward. We will build on this result and continue to improve,” he said.

The draw leaves Kwara United with 12 points from 10 matches, placing them 13th in the league standings.

The Ilorin-based side will next host Bendel Insurance at the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl on Sunday, hoping to translate their renewed attacking confidence into a home victory.
