Posted : 16 October 2026

Rangers International FC are banking on home-grown support in Abeokuta to boost their chances against Algeria’s MC Alger in Sunday’s CAF Champions League second preliminary round encounter.

The Flying Antelopes are scheduled to face the Algerian side at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta, Ogun State, at 2 p.m. on Oct. 18, with a positive result crucial to their continental campaign.

Ahead of the encounter, the management of the Enugu-based club has appealed to football supporters, sports administrators, stakeholders, and well-meaning Nigerians to turn out in large numbers to rally behind the team.

General Manager and Chief Executive Officer of Rangers Management Corporation, Amobi Ezeaku, made the appeal on behalf of the club’s management, technical crew, and players.

The club believes that strong support from the stands could inspire the players to deliver a determined performance and secure an advantage before the return leg in Algeria.

Rangers described the fixture as an important test of their continental ambitions, noting that the club represents the pride of Enugu State and Nigeria in the competition.

The management also called on sponsors, corporate partners, football administrators, and other stakeholders to demonstrate their commitment to Nigerian football by supporting the team at this critical stage.

“Your presence will make a difference,” the club stated, emphasising the importance of unity and collective responsibility in supporting Nigeria’s representatives on the continental stage.

For Rangers, the encounter offers an opportunity to strengthen their prospects of advancing in the competition against an experienced Algerian opponent.

The Flying Antelopes will therefore be hoping that supporters from Ogun, Enugu, and neighbouring states will fill the stadium and create an atmosphere capable of lifting the team.

With the return leg in Algeria to follow, Rangers understand the importance of making the most of Sunday’s home fixture and will be targeting a result that enhances their qualification prospects.

The club has consequently urged Nigerians to unite behind the team as it seeks to carry the country’s flag forward in Africa’s premier club competition.
